What level of experience do I need to join a class?

The Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing is for climbers with limited outdoor climbing experience. If its your first time climbing or you’re looking to learn the skills to climb outdoors, this class is a perfect choice. Lessons will include tying a perfect figure eight follow through, belaying with a gri gri, understanding the Top Rope System, how to clean a Top Rope, how to lower a climber, how to assist a climber, foundations of climbing movement, and so much more!

What should I bring to my first class?

Rope Wranglers will provide all the “shared” climbing equipment including ropes, anchors, climbing gear, belay devices, and whatever other gear is needed to facilitate the day’s lessons. If you need personal climbing gear including; shoes, harness, or a helmet, select the equipment needed during the registration process.

Everyone should bring the following; Water bottle with 1 to 2L of water, snacks, athletic close toed shoes, athletic clothing suitable for the seasonal temperature, a warm layer, a rain layer, sun protection, and bug spray.

Can I sign up for just one class?

Yes! Classes will be tailored to each groups individual needs for that week and lessons can be requested during the signup process.

Is there an option for when I “graduate” from the Intro to Outdoor Climbing Class?

Yes! After completing the Intro to Outdoor Climbing Class we would encourage you to check out the Advanced Outdoor Rock Climbing group, which is a class designed for climbers looking to progress their skills. In this class topics covered will include; developing a plan for progression, lead climbing, fall practice and mental training for falling, setting up Top Ropes, Projecting strategies, advanced climbing movement, learning the game of Sport Climbing, and many more!
