FAQ

Getting Started

  • No experience is required. Most of our guests have never climbed outdoors before. We start from the ground up, gear, safety, movement, and reading rock.

  • That's completely normal and more common than you'd think. Rock climbing involves real exposure and real risk. Matt is experienced working with nervous first-timers, keeps the pace relaxed, and helps you move through challenge at your own speed. Many guests who arrive anxious leave wanting to come back for more.

  • Real rock requires different skills like reading natural features, managing outdoor terrain, and understanding anchor systems. We bridge that gap whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced gym climber making the transition outdoors.

Families & Groups

  • We guide families regularly and rock climbing is an activity kids can absolutely participate in. Matt adapts every session to your group's age and ability, uses age-appropriate gear, and makes risk management decisions throughout the day. Rock climbing carries inherent risks and having a certified, experienced guide means those risks are understood and managed professionally.

  • Kids and adults climb together on every family session. Matt tailors the experience to your youngest climber so nobody gets left behind or pushed beyond their comfort level. If your kid is enthusiastic and can follow directions, they're ready to climb. Looking for youth-specific instruction? Rope Wranglers also offers dedicated youth climbing and coaching programs designed specifically for kids who want to develop real outdoor climbing skills.

  • Rock climbing puts everyone on equal footing, there's no screen, no scoreboard, just a shared challenge that requires communication, encouragement, and trust. Kids surprise their parents. Parents surprise themselves. The wall has a way of bringing out the best in people when it counts. It's one of the few outdoor activities where the whole family is genuinely in it together, and that's something you carry home long after the climb is over.

Logistics & Booking

  • Everything is included; helmet, harness, climbing shoes, and all technical gear. Just bring comfortable clothes you can move in, a snack, water, and sunscreen. We handle the rest. Check out the Essentials Checklist!

  • We primarily guide in the Flatirons, Boulder Canyon, and Eldorado Canyon which are some of Colorado's most iconic climbing areas. Location is chosen based on your group's experience level and the day's conditions.
